Frequently Asked Questions About Book Editing

We specialize heavily in commercial fiction and nonfiction, including thrillers, science fiction, military sci-fi, dystopian, fantasy, action/adventure, mystery, and male-skewed commercial fiction. We also edit literary fiction but only have one editor who currently specializes in it. For nonfiction, we specialize in memoirs, personal stories, business thought leadership, and practical self-help (including health and wellness).

How long does a developmental edit take? Turnaround time depends on manuscript length, but a standard 70,000 to 90,000-word novel typically takes 20-30 days. We provide a firm timeline when scheduling your project so you can plan your publication date accordingly.

NO. All editorial feedback, manuscript evaluation letters, and line-level notes are performed 100% by human editors. We use our collective experience as published authors and professional story editors to analyze your work. There is no AI-assisted option for editing.

YES. Many authors come to us because they are tired of editors injecting personal politics, modern sensitivities, or ideological lectures into their work. Whether authors are searching for a politically neutral editor, a "non-woke" or "based" story editor, or simply someone who respects authorial intent, our philosophy is simple: we edit for storytelling, craft, and genre expectation—not social compliance. We don't sanitize action, alter character views to fit modern trends, or lecture you on content choices. Your story remains your story.
